Where Can You Learn How to Analyse Data

Where Can You Learn How to Analyse Data Learn Everything from Analysing Data Sets to Machine Learning ChaptersWhere to Learn Data Analytics CoursesLearn Analytics in UniversityResources for Data ScientistsAs the decade comes to a close, one of the most dynamic relationships we’ve seen evolve throughout the years is the population’s interaction with the world of big data. With programs like Apache Spark and Hadoop paving the way for data driven decision making for finance and business giants, deep learning and data mining once seemed valuable only to the likes of a data scientist. The predictive powers of data, however, have revolutionized the way we carry out even mundane, daily tasks. From the algorithms involved in our YouTube suggestion bar to the data visualizations that turn unstructured data into digestible information about the economy, the amounts of data we use and create each day is immeasurable and has become an integral part of our lives. While the job of data analysts has become much more democratized in the 2010s, thanks in part to the mini computers the majority of t he population carry in their pockets, many governments around the world have been waking up to the importance of user data. Even China, who has been using its citizens’ data for public services for years now, has unveiled a new law requiring each person with a sim card to allow their device to send facial recognition data to the government.Gone are the days raw data was used simply for business intelligence - data will continue to play an even more ubiquitous role in all aspects of life. Whether you’re interested in learning about predictive analytics because you want to make your career in advanced analytics or you simply want to become a more informed, data-creating individual, there are many ways to start diving into the world of bit data analytics. This guide will walk you through the main branches of data analysis and where you can learn more about the subject. If you're interested in careers involving data, look into professions like business analytics or data consultingWhat is Data AnalysisIf you’re thinking about learning new skills in business analytics, data management and data visualization, the best way to jump-start your journey into the world of data analysis is to understand the origins of the field and its various specializations. The aspect of data analysis that trips most people during their first look into the subject is the difference between data analysis and data science. While both fields focus on turning unstructured, complex data into valuable information, there are many key differences between the two fields.A data analyst will have a mathematical statistics background and can often come from the fields of mathematical statistics, business, biology and more. The core skills involved in this profession are data processing, learning models, creating predictive models from a variety of different data sources. The most com mon technical skills you’ll need to master generally involve work in Excel.A data scientist on the other hand is expected to have a background in computer science, along with other relevant statistics fields. They can have a specialization in any different subjects, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, software development and more. This type of profession often requires knowledge of many different programming languages, such as R programming.A data science job can be very similar to one in data analysis, as many employers still aren’t very aware of the subtle differences between the two fields. This is definitely fair, as there is much cross-over between them and is something you should be aware of as you search for programs and professional experiences in the field.Another stark difference between the two subjects is the fact that the history of data analysis goes back centuries while data science has been made possible thanks to the technological innovations of the 21st century. Both fields involve the investigation of large amounts of data in order to find valuable patterns, so if you love data you should explore your options within both broad disciplines. Your child can, for example, see if they enjoy music by learning a new instrument. Lessons in dance, sports and even a foreign language can open up a whole world of discovery for young children. It is important that the child feels free to explore different horizons without the pressure or expectations of school.Home tutoring sessions must be fun and engaging for students, to give them the motivation to realise their full potential. For the little ones, tutors often prefer that parents stay and take part in activities. This promotes the sharing of ideas and discussion between parent and child. From the age of 4, children become slightly more independent. This is a good age for them to pick up a musical instrument or begin dance lessons, where they can gain a sense of rhythm and melody.Let kids discover in an informal way ¦ source: Pixabay - bodobeAt this young age, children will be getting ready to begin their academic careers, so it’s important that they view learning in a positive way. This can be achieved by teaching in a calm environment with playful methods. However, it is critical that children are not brought into an academic mindset too early, since this risks putting them off school in the future. The aim of opening up the world of learning to young children is to help them discover and develop an appreciation for the activity or subject in question.Kids learn by moving, playing and touching. In other words, they learn through p lay.Experiencing the world around them helps young children develop an understanding of numerous disciplines such as art and sport, which can indirectly lead to the acquisition of new skills.Taking lessons in music, dance or art lets children exploit their natural curiosity and creativity to reveal their talents and fulfil their potential.Calling on the help of a private tutor for this discovery allows children to experience a new sport, subject or musical instrument in a professional and focussed, yet calm and open setting.Learning Letters and Numbers with Personal TutorsFor primary school pupils attending infant or junior school, focussing on basic English and maths skills with a private tutor can help them get to grips with topics on the school syllabus, as well as making sure that they do not get left behind. In school, children are taught according to the national curriculum. In primary school, they learn the fundamentals of each subject, including spelling, reading comprehensio n, and counting.Having a good command of these basic skills will serve as a firm foundation on which to build their knowledge in the future. One to one tutoring gives them the opportunity to consolidate new knowledge and put it into practice. This is the reason why taking private lessons at a young age can have such an impact later on in a child’s academic career.A focus on learning and using basic skills and addressing any difficulties in the early years will provide learners with a strong start to learn more advanced topics in the future. So, taking private lessons alongside school study really can change everything. If your young child is showing signs of difficulty in a subject or you can see gaps in their learning, it is essential that these gaps are not allowed to widen upon starting school, where incomplete knowledge of the basics could cause problems later on at secondary school.Putting your child in driving seat of their learning will work wonders for their self-esteem and g ive them the motivation to do well.Home tutoring also enriches a child’s learning by delving deeper into subjects to explore the hows and whys of each detail. With this approach to learning, the child develops a desire to constantly learn and improve their skills, eventually growing up as a well-rounded individual. The individualised approach of a private tutor helps the learner understand their own learning style and develop effective revision strategies that can be used throughout their lives. The face to face relationship between tutor and tutee means children are free to ask any questions they may have about the course content, and in return, tutors UK provide helpful and well-explained answers. One to one tuition in maths and English helps students with three essential study skills: reading, writing, and arithmetic.Master reading, writing and arithmetic with the help of a personal tutor ¦ source: Pixabay - Kurt NiemansThese ‘3 R’s’ are of utmost importance in a child’s life. At the age of around 6 to 9 years old, grammar and homework help from an in-home educator guarantees that a child will fulfil their potential in learning and use newly acquired skills.so why hesitate to get in touch with a reading tutor, math tutor or start looking for writing tutors in your area? You could ask at the nearest tutoring center  to find the right tutor with a good hourly rate.Children benefit from support in addition to their formal education with quality teaching from a private tutor. Their methodology and regularity allows children to learn at their own pace in a calm environment where their personal progress can be tracked and teaching can be modified accordingly.Find a Tutor who uses Sensory Teaching MethodsThe best tutors can give and recommend workshops to help children discover their 5 senses.Sound, smell, touch, taste and sight are the five senses children use to make sense of the world around them and gain independence.Learning, whether general or academ ic, depends on the learner using their five senses. For this reason, private tuition can play a big part in academic success as it encourages sensory progress. In music workshops or classes, children and toddlers develop a sense of tone, rhythm and harmony using their sense of hearing. Music tutors introduce their students to the basics of music theory and how to play a given instrument. This type of teaching can begin at the age of 4 or 5 years old.Be sure to take care when choosing a teacher for these kinds of practical lessons. Find out what makes them the right person for the job, for example, find recommendations from other parents and introduce them to your child to make sure they like the tutor.A good relationship between teacher and pupil is essential to making significant progress at every level, beginner, Intermediate and advance.Depending on the age of your child, there are several options for sensory lessons:Tasting new foods in cookery workshops can surprise children’s taste budsThrough tasting, children discover the different flavours and smellsCookery workshops also help develop motor skills and creativityIn writing workshops, children exercise their imaginations and perfect their writing skillsArt workshops let children experience new materials, use of colour and stimulate inventivenessTaking a sensory approach to learning is particularly useful for children with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) such as dyslexia, who benefit from receiving information through various channels. This type of learning encourages the use of all senses for processing information and shows children the fun side of learning.Private Tutoring: A Lot More than Child CareHiring a home tutor is a lot more than a way to keep your child occupied for an hour or so. One on one tuition gives your child the opportunity to take their learning further.Home tutors have all of the professional teaching skills of a certified teacher, which are recognised with a teaching diploma or certificate for completing another kind of course.Learning doesn't have to be pen and paper ¦ source: Pixabay - EfraimstochterTutors come from all backgrounds. This is why tutoring jobs with Superprof do not involve any sort of childcare or babysitting responsibilities. Some parents, however, still get the two concepts mixed up.Tutoring and babysitting require completely different skills. In addition to patience, tutors must have teaching abilities and a talent for helping children fulfil their potentials. The ‘private’ nature of in home tutoring means that the student benefits from the full, undivided attention of their tutor. Improved communication leads to better progress from which the pupil would not necessarily benefit without tutoring. The teacher is not there to entertain or look after your child. Should I Go To Texas Christian University

Should I Go To Texas Christian University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. James is currently a junior at Texas Christian University majoring in Engineering. He specializes in multiple mathematics subjects including Algebra tutoring, Geometry tutoring, Trigonometry tutoring, and more. Check out his review of his university: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. How urban or safe is the campus? Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? James:There is no need for a car if you plan on staying on the campus at Texas Christian University (TCU). In order to get to stores, it may be a good idea to have one (although you will likely have one or two friends who have a car that you could borrow). I have a bike, and I use it to get to Kroger and Walgreens. Those two stores have all of my essentials. There is bus transportation, although I do not find it to be helpful. In short, I would suggest getting a bike; it is cheaper, yet still allows you to be mobile. You can always pitch in for gas money with a friend who takes you to Target once a month. VT:How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? James:I chose Texas Christian University based on the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants being so inviting. I have never had a problem with office hours, and I even go in at other times (and I am able to find the professor). I find the professors to be inviting of questions. They are there to see you succeed, and they will not stop helping you until you do. The faculty at TCU is wonderful. They have welcoming arms open to anyone who comes their way. VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? James:The dorms are in tip-top shape, with each only being a few years old. There is one food court on campus, which is annoying. It is in central campus, which makes it easy to get to regardless of where you might be. Being in Texas, it is warm year-round. Going to classes, I always see people I know and others who I have never seen before. People are very nice to one another, much like the professors. It is that southern hospitality each student possesses. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? What did you study and why? Did the university do a good job supporting your particular area of study? James:Texas Christian University is known for its business school. It has been ranked highly among other great schools. We are also known for our nursing school. Both of these programs are challenging, and they are accompanied by knowledgeable professors. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering. This has been my choice ever since I was young. I chose TCU because there are only about 50 students in my engineering classes, making the classroom setting small. The professors get to know you very well due to such a small class size. I have found TCU to be very good at coaching me for the real world once I graduate. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? James:Greek life does play a significant role at Texas Christian University. However, with Frog Camp and Freshman Orientation, TCU does a phenomenal job at helping incoming freshmen find peers (both in their class and upper classes). I did not rush my freshman year, and I was able to find a group of friends that I enjoyed being around. You will find your group early on, and you will probably keep those same friends all four years (but you are not limited to only those friends you meet freshman year). VT: How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services?Do many reputable companies recruit on campus? James:I visit the Career Center at least twice a month. They do a great job at letting the students know who is hiring. They host two campus-wide career fairs a year that hundreds of companies attend. Through FrogJobs, students are able to look up jobs both on-campus and off-campus, both for now and for the future. My resume looks golden thanks to the help of Career Services. They take their job seriously, and they make sure to get the name of Texas Christian University out to the big employers. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? James:The library is very crowded. Taking this into consideration, Texas Christian University is expanding the library, which will be ready in the fall of 2015. Although the library is always packed, there are plenty of other study areas (both in dorms and other academic halls) that are unused and are open to studying. No matter your preferred studying environment, you can duplicate that on campus to help lead you to success. VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? James:Fort Worth is about 15 minutes by car from campus. Besides the bars, the city shuts down fairly early (around 10:00 p.m. or so). There is not much to do in downtown Fort Worth. Dallas is about an hour by car (or by train). Dallas is a much bigger metropolitan area, thus giving students more options for things to do. If you were to draw a two-mile radius around campus, you have all your necessities: clothes shops, burger joints, pizza places, grocery stores, convenience stores, etc. VT: How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? James:I picked Texas Christian University due to its medium size. TCU has about 8,000 undergraduates. I am pleased with the general class size, and I feel like TCU can comfortably hold this volume of students. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. James: I joined a club in December of 2013 called TCU Idea Factory. This is an entrepreneurial club. Through meeting Dr. Eric Simanek, I have learned what it takes to be an entrepreneur in this world. Through the funding of TCU and the knowledge passed down to me by Dr. Simanek, I have been able to start my own company and help students with their education. This has been a great resource for me, and has truly helped me formulate my career goals for post-college. Check out James tutoring profile. How to Stay Safe on Campus

How to Stay Safe on Campus Going off to college comes with a lot of new territory a major part being the new-found freedom. Students are clearly enthralled with this concept and often times dont really know what to do with it. At the very least, they neglect some important elements, such as campus safety. Staying safe on campus is a topic that is endlessly covered, yet not always as well-executed as it should be. Before choosing your college you may want to consider checking out the benefits of an overnight college visitwhich may help you get a better feel of the campus and how you will need to prepare yoursulf. Reasons for this are debatable. However, it appears that many students just dont give much thought to the possible dangers out there since they feel so at ease on campus. While its certainly a good thing to be so comfortable in this second home of yours, the independence of living on your own brings up the need for a lot more responsibility, including thinking about the extra pre-cautions youll have to take from time to time. You definitely dont want to constantly feel paranoid and afraid, but you should just keep your wits about you. Making use of this newly wide realm of freedom is great and perfectly natural as long as you acknowledge everything good and bad that comes with it. Before going away to school you may want to take a look at these 5 things to know about off-campus living. The first step to approaching campus safety is understanding why its so important. You probably grew up you entire life with your parents telling you how to be safe and hopefully youve taken that advice to heart. However, applying those rules to living on a campus by yourself is a different ballpark. It is vital that you recognize you are in a vastly different world and that youll have to think about things you never had to think about before. You may not have a car so there will be a bigger possibility of you having to walk at night. Youre still getting familiar with the town so the chances of getting turned around and lost are higher. You dont have your parents to count on for making sure all the windows are closed and the doors are locked so youll have to remember to double-check on your own. Since you will most likely be overwhelmed and unsure where to begin with these pre-cautions in addition to the other tons of stuff youll be getting used to with college life here are a few bits of advice to get you on a helpful path. Find alternatives to walking alone at night: It will be tempting, it will be easy, but its just best not to walk by yourself after dark. When you get out of that evening class at 9:30pm after a long day of exhausting lectures, its understandable that youll just want to race home and not look back. But in the back of your mind, youll probably know that isnt the smartest thing to do. Especially if you live in an off-campus apartment or house that may not be near the buzzing heart of campus, youre going to want to avoid walking alone. You never know what could happen, so spending a few bucks on a cab or walking with a friend or classmate is definitely worth it. No matter how confident you are that nothing bad could ever happen to you, just realize that the world isnt perfect and play it safe. Pay attention to the schools text/online alerts: Most colleges have caught on to the social media craze by now and are using that to safetys advantage. Typically, schools will have a text alert system you can sign up for where you will receive a text message from the school any time an unsafe situation has arisen on campus. Similarly, this is often offered via Twitter, Facebook, and email as well. At this point, theyre pretty much making it as easy as possible for you to be aware of possible dangers in your area, so why wouldnt you sign up? However, signing up isnt usually the difficult part for students its taking the alerts seriously that tends to be the challenge. It is in our nature to joke and assume such things are being dramatized. In this case, though, give the alerts the attention they deserve. These are the kinds of situations that should not be taken lightly so it is best just to give the school some credit and be careful. Be thankful that you are able to get such a quick heads-up. Check your locks: Particularly for dorm residents, locking the door doesnt seem like such a big deal. With all of the easy socializing going on so close to you and the reassurance of so many R.A.s around, its not surprising that keeping the door locked isnt a top priority. You certainly arent expected to keep it locked all the time and isolate yourself from your floormates, but locking it at night and during less busy times of the day is something you must remember to do. Even if it doesnt seem necessary, it cant hurt. Why not take such an easy step to protect yourself? If you live off-campus, this is even more important. No matter how distracted you get, no matter how tired you are, no matter how safe you feel always lock the door behind you. Additionally, double-check that your windows are closed when you leave and when you go to sleep. College campuses have a comforting feeling about them that lead you to believe friendly students like yourself are the only people around, but tha t is unfortunately not always true. Assume that other, potentially dangerous strangers are out there and avoid keeping your residence too widely open and accessible. Here are a few tips that may help you adjust to dorm lifethat you may want to check out as well. Know where local safety resources are and how to use them: Take some time to research what kind of support the university does offer in emergency situations. Many schools have Emergency poles lit up around campus that include a phone that can be used to immediately call the campus police. It would be extremely helpful to not only know where those are, but how they work also. Being near such a resource but not knowing how to use it would be quite upsetting in the case of an emergency. In addition to specifically emergency-related resources, look into some of the simpler things your campus might offer. For instance, bigger colleges tend to have a bus route and/or night shuttles. Learn their stops and times and save their numbers into your phone so you can call if youre ever in a tough spot and need some quick information. Colleges know that campus safety is important, so they are ready to guide you. Take advantage of your schools resources and keep a smart head on your shoulders. It all comes with the new, freedom-filled territory.

In fact, a little effort now makes the transition easierand your child will feel more motivated and ready to make it a great school year. Here are suggestions on how to prepare your child for going back to school this fall: Plan a few fun outings to gear up. Take your child out to lunch and to shop for school supplies and a first day of school outfit or two. Sometimes, picking out a backpack and new school supplies makes things fun, helping children ease into the idea of school. Spend time setting goals for the fall semester. At Huntington, we often talk with students about the importance of goal setting. This process helps children get into the right frame of mind for learning and focused on working hard toward the future. Encourage your child to reflect on last year and think about what to could improve this year. Have him or her write down those goals and a few steps to take to reach them. For high school students, talk about college. Help your teen keep the big picture in mind by having regular conversations about higher education and career plans. What does your teen find interesting from an academic and career standpoint? Discuss visiting their guidance counselor early this fall to ensure your teen is aware of and on the right track with all of the college to-dos. Talk about the importance of staying organized. Organization is the key to doing well in school, and it all starts with developing a good system for keeping track of homework and test and project dates. If you have a younger child, consider a simple homework notebook, while a student planner or smartphone planner app might work best for your middle or high schooler. Remind your child about good time management practices. If your child has gotten a little lax with any sort of routine over summer break, its time to start discussing what a typical school day will look like. Together, start putting important dates on the family calendar, such as school orientation and back to school night. As the school year gets underway, have your child show you how he or she will block off time in the hourly schedule of his or her planner and record important dates and deadlines. Encourage your child to advocate for him or herself. Youll do your child a big favor if you teach him or her how to communicate well with teachers and peers. The sooner your child takes ownership of his or her education, the more equipped your child will be to address problems correctly with the help of you and teachers. Be enthusiastic. Be a good role model for optimism. Remind your child of the great parts about school, whether thats seeing friends again, making new ones or getting back into a daily routine. Be positive and frame up the new school year as an opportunity for growth, learning and adventure. Need more guidance on how to prepare your child for back to school success? Cheating Using Mobile Phones - Tutor Hunt Blog

Cheating Using Mobile Phones Cheating Using Mobile Phones Cheating Using Mobile PhonesSecondary SchoolsWith so much importance being placed on just a few exams during their teenage years, is it really a surprise that that many pupils decide to try to cheat their way to a higher grade? Ofqual, the exam regulator from England, have just published a report disclosing how the number of pupils involved in `exam malpractice` more than doubled between 2017 and 2017. The most common form of illicit exam behaviour was smuggling `unauthorised materials` into the venue. This could be small pieces of paper containing relevant information (cheat notes as they were called in my day), but were usually mobile phones or other internet enabled devices. With a store house bigger than the library of Alexandria in a small, easily concealable device, the temptation to sneak a phone into the exam hall must be overwhelming. I suspect that if mobile devices were available when I was a student, may grades would have been far higher. I`m jesting of course - I received top grades in all my exams. The report made it clear that `In most cases, it was a mobile phone or other electronic communications device,` that led to a student being censured for misconduct. 80% of all cases we down to the use of a phone during an exam, while plagiarism accounts for 17% of misdemeanours. Ofqual have said that in the majority of cases cheating students were penalised with a reduction in their grade. Exactly how these reductions are calculated hasn`t been disclosed - perhaps the browsing history on the offender`s mobile device is examined, so the extent of their nefarious deeds can be determined. Even though there has been a 25% rise in the number of offenders caught cheating, the actual proportion of students engaging in this activity is very low. The 2,715 penalties given to 2,585 students make only a mere 0.015% of the 18 million exams sat in 2016 and 2017. The percentage is extremely low - either the students are extremely adept in surreptitiously squirrelling away smart phones about their person, or very little cheating is actually occurring in the exam hall. The latter case seems to me to be the more likely: the stark, fearful environment of the exam hall does not strike me as a place where it would be easy to secretly scour the internet on a small screen. Apparently most exam venues are now decked out with CCTV cameras, so even if your activities escape the notice of the patrolling sentries, marching with slow and steady step down the aisles of desks, you may still come unstuck when footage of your iniquitous deeds are later discovered. Many exam questions resist being aced by mere google intervention, as they strike a more opinionated tone, rather than a mere factual one. Instead of asking `in what year did Hitler reoccupy the rhineland`, the question might be `in your opinion what were the causes of the second world war?` A more concerning detail of the Ofqual report is the increase in college and school staff involved in exam malpractice. The numbers increased from 360 during 2016, to 895 in 2017 - a disconcerting rise indeed. Actual details of the misdeeds of the staff is not present in the report, but is likely to include failure to ensure strict conditions are maintained in exam halls. Ofqual said one of the reasons for the increase in staff malpractice is different exam boards, the AQA being one example, have recently taken a tougher position against individual misconduct. `Exam boards are more likely to issue formal written warnings for similar offences rather than informal advisory notes this year. This still involves a very small proportion of the total number of staff in England,` the exam regulator Ofqual said. The report offered a more detailed breakdown of the cheating relating to each academic subject: maths and computer science came out on top, together accounting for a third of all cases. In relation to plagiarism, computing GCSE was by far in the lead, hardly surprising given that the assessment tasks for the GCSE exam had been leaked and circulated online. In response to this Ofqual announced that the computing coursework would not count towards the student`s final grade, and this would be the case for future academic years, until significant reforms had been made. 2 years ago0Add a Comment
